Mobridge

We went to Mobridge yesterday to get our taxes done. The reason we did it earlier this year is because Casey has to get his FAFSA done as soon as possible. We have a student loan meeting at Strasburg Public tonight at 7:00 to show us how to fill out all the paperwork. We have done it before with Brandon but we don't remember how to do it anymore.

On the way home we stopped in Herreid to visit Betty's mom. We stayed about an hour and a half. I think we got home sometime between 4:30 and 5:00.

Holding Pattern

The following is an E-Mail Ministry message.

Many times God will allow a painful situation or a painful circumstance in
our life to "swallow us up." This season in our spiritual growth is a
holding pattern. We can't move to the left or the right. All we can do is
sit, like Jonah sat in the belly of that great fish, so God can have our
undivided attention and speak to us. God put Jonah in a holding pattern
because He needed to speak to his heart. Jonah was all alone. There were no
friends to call, no colleagues to drop by, no books to read, no food to eat,
no interference, and no interruptions. He had plenty of time to sit, think,
meditate, and pray.

When we're deep down in the midst of a difficult situation, God can talk to
us. When He has our undivided attention, He can show us things about
ourselves that we might not otherwise have seen.

A Few of God's Holding Patterns:

1. When you are sick in your physical body and you have prayed but God has
not healed you yet, you are in a holding pattern

2. When you are having problems with your children and you have put them on
the altar, but God has not delivered them yet, you are in a holding

pattern.

3. When you have been praying for the salvation of a loved one and they have
not been saved yet, you are in a holding pattern.

4. When you are in a broken relationship and you have given it over to God,
but it has not been restored yet, you are in a holding pattern.

5. When the doors slam shut before you can knock on them, you are in a
holding pattern.

When we are deep in the belly of a difficult situation, there are no
interruptions. God has our undivided attention. All we can do is sit, think,
meditate, and pray. We cannot run from God because there are no Mountains
that are high enough, valleys low enough, rooms that are dark enough, or
places that are hidden enough from Him. We must remember to praise Him while
we're waiting and remember three things:

1. God has a purpose.

2. God has a plan.

3. God has a process.

So stop struggling and start listening, praying and trusting. He'll keep you
right where you are until you can clearly hear Him say, "I love you."

Prayer: Father, forgive my unbelief. I know You Love me and will turn
anything around to benefit me. You have planned nothing for me but victories
and I am ready to receive them regardless of how difficult the path. Amen

The shortest distance between a problem and a solution is the distance
between your knees and the floor. The one who kneels to the Lord can stand
up to anything.

We spent the night in Bismarck last night. We went up on Saturday morning for grandma's 87th birthday. We ate at the Prime Steer. I really wasn't too impressed, oh well you never know until you try their food, right. We had a good time anyway.

After the dinner we had some shopping to do. Of course Casey didn't care to shop with us so Alex and Nicole picked him up and they went to Brandon and Julie's to play playstation. We did our shopping, picked Casey up and were headed home when we saw it posted that no travel was advised. We called 511 and listened to their message thinnking maybe we'd just keep going but then it got worse and by the time we reached the turn off by Menoken we decided we'd better turn around and go back. I called Joann to let them know what we were doing and to see where they were and she said they were almost home. The roads were really bad and they had to drive between 35 and 40 mph most of the way. So we went back and got a hotel room. Casey wanted to stay at Alex's so he called him right away. They were still at Brandon and Julies,so we dropped him off at Brandon's on our way. Then we went and got our room. We stayed at the Comfort Suites.

I got some pictures developed yesterday and thought I'd share.
This is one of our baby owls. If you follow our blog you probably remember me telling you about seeing all four of them lined up on the wire outside our barn. They were just tiny babies then, look how much they've grown. I was outside having a cigarette and this little guy flew up into the tree right beside me. I never thought I'd be able to go in the house and get the camera and still be able to get a picture before he flew away. But I thought I'd try anyway. He just sat there, he didn't seem scared at all. I was able to move right up close.

This was taken a while back when we went to visit mom. Duane, Casey and mom looking at old pictures. You know how much mom enjoys telling stories, well, last time we visited we spent the whole time we were there looking at old pictures and mom told us about them and some stories about when they were taken.

This picture was taken over 30 years ago. Dad digging dams. I borrowed this from mom, blew it up and got copies for mom, myself and one for each of my kids. Its not the clearest but it was taken without a zoom lens and from a long ways away.

Welcome to the Machine!

We went to Bismarck yesterday to get my CPAP. The air pressure is set at 9. Mike, the RT that was explaining the machine to us, said that the lower the pressure the easier it is to get used to. He also said that on average it takes 6 to 8 weeks to get used to it. Let's just say that I didn't sleep very well, not that I thought I would. I fell asleep, but woke up about 3:00 AM and took it off for the rest of the night. I had a bad headache and the bridge of my nose hurt pretty bad. I'm going to have to adjust it a little looser and see if it leaks.

We also had appointments to get our eyes checked. I think it's been a couple years since we had them checked. My glasses are really scratched up so I'm going to get a new pair. Betty's eyes changed quite a bit so she is getting a new pair too.

We had a low last night of -45 degrees.

Not too much happening around here. I'm thinking I might just spend the weekend working on my photo albums.

I talked to Alex today and he said he went in at 3:00 AM this morning to move snow. He has to go in tomorrow morning at 4:00 AM. We got quite a bit of snow today. It was light and fluffy. I came home early (around 2:30)because I was a little afraid if the wind came up I would have a hard time seeing. Quite a few people went home early because of the snow, although it did let up some later.

Casey needed to go through photo albums last night to find some pictures for a paper he's writing. That got me into the mood to go through them. I have all kinds of photos that were removed for kids projects at school and never got put back into the albums not to mention all of them that are waiting to be put in an album yet from when they were taken. Just thought I'd share a few.

Duane and Ryan waiting for the fish to bite, taken in May 1998 on the shore of the Missouri River.

Brandon, Duane, Harvey, and Ryan in up to past his waist, Alex and I were in the water about where the camera is situated. This was a really fun fishing day. I remember once the fish started biting we almost couldn't pull the lines out fast enough. It was really exciting for the kids. It was doing all we could between Duane and I to keep Brandon and Alex's hooks baited. Duane would bait them, hand them to me, and I'd help them throw them out and let them reel them right back in.

These were taken in Aberdeen at Wylie Park.

Well, guess I'd better go work on those albums.
Have a Great week-end.

CPAP

I didn't get my CPAP yet. After my appointment last week Wednesday, we went to Med Equip One, under the impression I was going to get my CPAP. Wrong. We were informed thay they had to run it through our insurance first. We were also told it would be four or five days. They would then call us and we could come back to get everything set up. Today is day seven and we haven't heard anything yet. I suppose with New Years being in that time frame that it will take longer. This CPAP thing is getting to be quite an ordeal. Including the initial consultation we will have had to make five trips to Bismarck and that's if we are done with this next trip. It's approximately 150 miles round trip. Then I have to go back with the CPAP in two months to make sure everthing is working alright.

Wishing You A Happy New Year !

Our family picture taken at Christmas. The only ones missing are our grandson Tyler and Ryan's girlfriend Sarah. Tyler's mom was home so he had to go to a bunch of other family get togethers. We had ours with him after Christmas. Sarah also had her family get together that same evening.

Here are a couple of pictures I took for mom. I got her big picture frames with room for each of her kids families. Then I realized I really didn't have any really good close up recent pictures of the kids. So the next week-end I took some(and just got them developed). I still need to get one of Brandon and Julie.

Alex and Nicole.

Tyler got a new camera from Alex and Nicole for Christmas. He had so much fun with that camera. The camera holds 40 pictures before you have to delete some, or down load them. By the end of the day he had taken 80 pictures. Below are some of the pictures he took.

Mom on her 85th Birthdy, trying on the Halloween costume my sister Velma bought her. She had so much fun with that, we had her walk out to show everyone. She went and threw the end of the boa in the son in law's faces.
