Awesome Alfalfa

Duane swathed down alfalfa yesterday. Wow what nice winrows. We've had such beautiful rain everything is growing so nice.

Alex and Nicole came late Friday night and stayed until Saturday afternoon. This morning Alex and Nicoles dad Bob are going to take the boat out and do some fishing.

We had a great weekend just visiting and hanging out outside. Alex and Casey dug the new firepit,we trimmed a tree in the front yard that was getting to full at the bottom and I got my flowergardens in that yard weeded.
Ryan and Sarah came out in the late afternoon to visit. We were sitting outside and a squirrel came running across the road stopped and stood there looking at us.Here comes a gopher from the other direction and also stops and sits there looking at us. Needless to say Alex ran to get the gun and while he was doing that we all sat there and watched bothe the squirrel and the gopher. The squirrel proceeded to go to the edge of the pond drape himself over the rocks and lean in for a drink when he was done he just sat there watching us for awhile and then scurried over to the fence and back over a building to the trees.Of course by the time Alex got back the gopher was gone and the squirrel was running over the top of the building. That would have made an awesome picture when the squirrel was hanging over the edge of the pond hugging the rocks as he drank, and when he stood up there looking at us. I guess I should get in the habit of bringing my camera outside with me.

After that Ryan,Sarah,Alex and Nicole decided to go hunt gophers. But when they got down to the dugout Ryan said they would have had to walk a ways because of where the cows were so him and Sarah came back. By that time his stomach was bothering him and he didn't figure he should walk out, he took a pain pill and rested for awhile.

When Alex and Nicole came back we ate a late supper. After we ate Ryans stomachache got so bad they decided to go home, and Alex and Nicole left for her parents house.

Casey had gone to town right after supper to go to the Rodeo and the dance. It was really quiet around here. I ran up the hill to take pictures of the Alfalfa and boy did I get eaten by mosquitos. I was only out there for a few minutes but with that tall alfala getting cut down and the time of the day the mosquitos were just thick.

Well, I'd better go get ready for church. Hope you all had a Great weekend.

Ryan Update VI

The new doctor Ryan saw yesterday thinks his problem is stomach acid. She put him on something similar to Nexium. I can't think of the name of it right now. She also put him on something that deadens the nerve endings in his stomach so he doesn't have so much pain. My question is why didn't they do that sooner?? Anyway, we hope this works.

Ryan Update V

Ryan heard from his doctors nurse yesterday. Rochester called them and they decided not to see Ryan. They felt Bismarck hasn't exhausted all their options. I guess another doctor in Bismarck has taken an interest in Ryans case. She has been looking over his files and feels she can help him. I hope she can because this has been going on way to long. Ryan has to be there at 11:00 AM this morning.

I should also mention that Ryan called us about 6:00 AM yesterday morning. Sarah was going to take him to the ER in Bismarck and he wasn't leaving until they found something. The pain was so bad he couldn't stand it anymore. Well, it took three shots of Morphine to take care of the pain. They then told him to contact his doctor, gave him some pain pills, and sent him home. Wonderful.

My appointment yesterday went great. Doc says everything is A-OK. Come back in 6-9 months. The reason for the 3 month window is so I can coincide Dr. Pansegrau's next appointment with a future Dr. Frank appointment. My next appointment with Dr. Frank is in Sept. and I don't know if he will want to see me again in 3 or 6 months from the Sept. appointment.

Correction

My next doctor appointment is on the 24th of June, not on the 27th or 28th as I said earlier.

Motorcycle

Well, I won't be riding motorcycle to Bismarck. Brandon, Julie and the guy that bought it came here Thursday night to get it. The guy he sold it to drove it back. He lives in Baldwin so I'm assuming that's where he took it.

Motorcycle & Ryan Update IV

Brandon sold one of his motorcycles. A 1979 Yamaha XS Eleven Special. He bought it from me originaly. He has since gotten a Harley, so he sold the Yamaha to someone he works with. He took the day off yesterday to come here to the farm to get it. He was going to take his pickup and load it in the back but he figured it out and it would have cost him around $80 in gas. So he decided to drive his Daytona down here and drive the motorcycle back to Bismarck. Betty and I would drive his car back to Bismarck on my next doctor appointment which I think is on the 27th or 28th. Well, the weather last night didn't cooperate and he ended up driving his car back to Bismarck. We might have to load it up in my pickup and take that for my appointment. Hey, maybe I could drive it up there, yeah that's it I can drive it to Bismarck for Brandon.

Ryan hasn't heard anything from Maio yet. I just can't figure out what is taking so long. He's now out of pain meds and his Dr. doesn't dare to give him anymore. I think he's afraid Ryan will become addicted to them. Night before last he only got one hour of sleep. I haven't talked to him about last night yet. He was going to try a sleeping pill. We'll keep everyone informed whenever we hear something. If everyone would keep him in your prayers we would really appreciate it. Thanks

Rain

We got more rain last night, half an inch to be exact. That brings the total for the month to 4.10 inches. Everything is so green now, it's just beautiful.

Chuck Norris

Everyone has probably already seen this. I hope everyone signs the petition.

In The Summertime by Mungo Jerry

My brother Bruce put a version of this song on his blog. After watching it on Bruce and Nancy's blog I went to You Tube to look it up. I think this might be the original but don't know for sure. That's not why I posted it though. I was watching this version and the guy playing keyboards looked like a very young Billy Joel. I looked it up and it's not him. Colin Earl is or was their keyboardist. Anyway, he looked like Billy Joel to me. Check out the porkchops on the lead singer. I wonder if that's Mungo Jerry??

Colt Navy

I forgot to mention that I got a Black Powder pistol for Fathers Day. It's a Colt Navy .44. I got it from Alex and Nicole. I've wanted a black powder pistol for quite a few years. You know how that goes, there's always more important things to get than a pistol. Anyway, they gave it to me when they got here Friday evening. We didn't get a chance to shoot it until Saturday afternoon. It's great fun shooting it. My brothers Bruce and Doug were here at Mom and Dads so I called them to see if they and Dad wanted to shoot. They came over and shot a few times. I think everyone had a good time.

Fathers Day

I had an awesome surprise yesterday. We had decided to go to Bismarck yesterday because we needed a few things. Anyway, Betty had talked to Brandon and Alex and they decided to surprise me with grilled ribeyes for dinner. They went to the grocery store and got huge ribeyes, I think they were an inch and a half thick. We also had macaroni salad and chips. What an awesome surprise. Brandon grilled them and they were great. Thanks guys. You're great kids. Love ya!

Monday Scripture

I didn't feel like posting yesterday so this week "Sunday Scripture" becomes Monday Scripture.

Sunday's Scripture

I'm going to list a certain Scripture but I'm not going to type it out for everyone to read. Instead I hope everyone will get out their Bibles, look it up and read it.

Here's this weeks Scripture: Romans 15:1-13. Emphasis on verse 7, but please read it all. Please feel free to continue reading on from verse 13 if you want to.

God Bless.

Beautiful Day !

Here is a picture of the bridge Duane built.

These were taken a couple of days ago.Can you see the double rainbow ?

We had a beautiful day today, other than the wind. It just wouldn't be North Dakota without wind though right ?

Alex and Nicole came home last night. They got here about 9:30 or so. We visited awhile and then we watched a Rambo movie. They brought the new one for us to watch. Casey hadn't seen the old ones,so awhile back when we saw them for $5.00 at Alco we picked up all three. He watched two in the past week. Alex said he couldn't remember the old ones, so we watched the last one of the three. We were going to watch the new one after that but it just got too late so they left it here for us to watch later and so we could bring it to Ryan and Sarah to watch when we were done.

This morning Duane and Alex and I were all up early. Alex was all ready to get things lined up to go fishing. He got all the rods out and checked out what he had left for tackle by that time Nicole was up and Alex went and woke Casey up to go. Casey asked him what time it was and Alex said it's 8:00 already and Casey says you've gotta be kidding me. Evidently he thought that was too early to get up, but he did about 15 minutes later. At the beginning of the summer he was up every morning by 7:30 but the last three weeks or so he has been sleeping in later.

They went to Rice Lake first but the fish weren't biting and they kept snagging so they decided to go to the river. They came home and packed a lunch and went out again. They never got any bites out there either but they had fun anyway.

When they got home Alex went out hunting. He hardly walked across the road and he already got a cottontail, he also got a bunch of gophers.

We had Birthday cake at lunch time to celebrate Caseys Birthday. I never thought to take pictures with my digital camera. My other camera takes so much nicer pictures so I used that. But I will post when I get them developed.

Duane and I worked around the yard most of the day. We got a new liner put in our whiskey barrel fountain (left over liner from the pond), and I trimmed some of my flowers down (aggressive ones that get too tall if there not trimmed ).

Last night one of the bulls crashed through the fence to get in by the other bull and heifers. I guess he didn't like the other bull getting to have all the fun while he was penned up all alone. So Duane fixed fence and turned one of the bulls in the pasture with the older cows, and turned the other one and the heifers out to the other pasture.

I was sitting outside when he turned the heifers out in the grass beside the yard. It was fun to watch them they were so excited flying around like little calves, following each other around and pushing each other out of the way to be the first one to check things out. It wouldn't be fun if you had to be in there by them but it was fun to watch from the other side of the fence.

The day before yesterday I came home from work and I asked Casey where Duane was. He said I think it's suppose to be a surprise. I went outside a little later and heard him in the garage so I went to check out what he was doing. Here he had built a bridge for the pond. He was already almost done with it. It turned out really nice.
Alex helped me carry it over and put it across the stream this afternoon.

Oh, Duane went and mowed this afternoon too. The church had a mowing day.

Alex and Nicole left for home around 5:00.

Casey and Duane and I watched another movie early in the evening. We watched Semi-Pro. It wasn't the best movie but I guess it was alright.

After that Casey decided to go to the wedding dance in Strasburg.

Brandon and Julie will be here late tonight. They went straight to the wedding from Bismarck and then theres the reception and the dance.

Peggy Lee

I was listening to Louis Armstrong this morning and thought I'd look him up on Wikipedia. His favorite singer was Peggy Lee. So I listened to some of her stuff. I didn't know she did some work for Walt Disney. I also didn't know she was born in Jamestown, North Dakota. Veeeeery iiiiiiiinteresting.

Beautiful Rain

We had 1.5 inches of rain yesterday and last night. A nice slow rain that should have all soaked in. We really needed it.

Ryan update III

Well, Ryan heard back from the doctor yesterday. It's not his gallbladder. They are sending his records to Maio. I guess they want his records for at least 5 days before they will see him.So they can look them over and decide how they are going to proceed. Needless to say he is getting really sick of being sick.

Yesterday afternoon he was in so much pain again that even one pain pill wouldn't take care of it. I just hope they find something quick once he gets to Maio, and that it is something they can treat quick, so he can feel better once and be able to get on with life. He said he's sick of computer games, sick of laying around, tired of reading and basically just sick of being sick.

I'm going to drop off some movies today after work. We have a few movies he hasn't seen yet.

I have my big test today. We just trained for International Travel so todays the big test. I just hope I pass it. Most of it I feel comfortable with, but there are a few things I'm not yet sure of.

Alex and Nicole are coming home tonight. They usually stay by Nicoles parents on Friday night, then come to our place late Saturday morning.

Brandon and Julie will also be coming home. I think Brandon has to work until noon on Saturday and then they're heading home. One of Brandon's classmates (Dion W) is getting married on Saturday so we probably won't see alot of them until Sunday but it will be nice to have them home again.

I have been putting off getting groceries all week thinking I'll get them Friday after work. Well last night I realized I really should have got them yesterday because today is dairy days so I'm thinking the store will be really busy. Maybe I'll get lucky and by the time I get off work everyone will have gone home.

I have a lot of things to do around here tonight. Basic stuff to get done before the kids get home. So I can relax and visit while they are here. I really haven't done much of anything as far as house work or yard work this week. I've been working the earlier shift so I'm home by 5:00 every night but I've also been doing alot of studying.

Oh well, I'll catch up on stuff tonight. Have a great weekend !!

Ryan Update II

Ryan didn't hear anything from his Dr. today about the gall bladder test. Hopefully tomorrow. As soon as we know anything we'll post the results.

Tuesday, June 3, 2008

Ryan Update

Ryan's MRA he had on Friday of last week was negative. He has to go back in today for a gall bladder test. If that comes back negative, Dr. Grenz is going to send him to a specialist in Minneapolis. Just wanted to update everyone on what is going on with Ryan.
