After Christmas.

Casey has been enjoying his days off from school. Watching TV, playing computer, and of course graining cows. I doubt he would say he enjoys the graining, but he's gotta have some chores. Last night he was looking at missed calls on his phone and he thought the date must be off because it said Friday the 28 and he was sure it was Thursday. He wasn't happy to discover it was already Friday. The vacation days are just slipping away.

Duane worked for Harlow Thursday, in Mobridge. They put up new ceiling tiles in a trailer House there. It is a rental unit of Orland Geigle. I had to work too, but I got home on time and by the time he got home I had supper ready and we ate, and watched a movie.

Thursday evenning Ryan called he said "I got a problem I got my treadmill stuck halfway up the stairs". " Do you think Casey could come and help me move it the rest of the way up one of these days"? He had asked if Casey would help him before, but they just didn't get around to doing it and Ryan started working on his weight room and decided maybe he could do it himself.

He was telling one of the girls at work about it and I said he just couldn't wait for his brother to help he had to do it right now by himself. She says"yeah Ryan here is your sign". He's quite a trooper everyone at work likes to tease him, and whenever they don't know how to do something its Ryan Help. That's not just the new employees either even the leader rely's on him for help on alot of things. He just drops whatever he's working on and goes to help. He just got Team Captain, and has been told he should put in for Team Leader the next time a position comes up, I think he would do an excellent job as Team Leader.

Brandon has been working on putting in Duanes stereo and speakers in his pickup for him. When he went to leave for home on Tuesday his alternator wasn't charging and they figured he probably wouldn't make it home with his car. So Duane said just take my pickup, I shouldn't need it for awhile anyway. Well Brandon said "I might as well take your stereo and speakers with and put them in for you while I have it". He is coming home today to bring the pickup home & work on his car.

Duane and I are going to try to get some income tax paperwork done again today. I am not looking forward to it. Actually I enjoy it if all goes well, but if you get one of those little mistakes that can take you forever to find it can drive you nuts.

Next year I'm going to do it month by month. All of my family that is reading this is going yeah right that is what you said last year and the year before. That is one of my new Years resolutions this year. Anyone else make New Years Resolutions for this year yet?

Well I guess I'd better go get started on that paperwork before things get busy around here.

Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are recieving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

Slow Day

Boy, it sure seemed like a slow day today. I suppose it does to most people after all the Christmas celebrations. We had a very Merry and Blessed Christmas again this year. All the kids made it home safely. They don't have far to go, one in Linton and two are in Bismarck. They also made it back to their homes safely yesterday.
Betty had to work today so it was just Casey and I at home. I didn't do much besides wash clothes and refill the dishwasher and run it.
About 4:oo PM Casey and I went out and fed the cows. He watches the gate for me while I run the bales in with the tractor and loader. He also grains the heifers for me.
Well that's all for today.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve Brandon got home early this evening so we opened presents. Tyler got a playstation game from Brandon and Julie and a chair from Alex and Nicole. He set up his chair in front of the tv and the kids helped him learn how to play his new game. Everyone took a turn at it. When he would get tired of it for awhile,or stuck somewhere he'd hand it to someone else to play. When he started out we thought it might be too hard for him but it wasn't long and he had conquered a level, and was playing really good.He also got a whack a mole game from us which we played for awhile.
Alex had Brandon pick up guitar hero 3 for him, so they played that for awhile. Then grandpa and Tyler decided to watch a movie (ROBOTS) The other kids retired to the kitchen table to play poker, and I thought now would be a good time to write in the blog.

Christmas 2007

Its been a busy Christmas holiday!
Alex and Nicole came home on Friday night. He doesn't have to work again until Wednesday morning (neither do Ryan or I).
Alex brought home the playstation 2. Needless to say kids played guitar hero until the wee hours of the morning. They really enjoy that game and it is fun to just watch them play.
Saturday we went to Milo and Joann's for dinner. Brandon, Julie & Bleau and Lisa, and their family weren't able to make it. Brandon had to work and one of Lisa and Bleau's kids came down with the flu. We watched planet earth for awhile when we first got there, then had a big dinner, and opened presents. Milo brought out an album that Leroy (Duane's uncle) had made when he was little, and we all looked at that. Had a big lunch, and just visited.
Sunday after church Ryan, Alex, and Nicole joined us for dinner. We invited Milo, Joann,
Harvey and Doug to come for lunch. I think Grandpa and Grandma got quite a kick out of watching the boys playing guitar hero. The kids really get into it, it's fun to watch.
Sunday night we had the Christmas program in Hull. Casey was a narrator. The kids did a really good job. It was a nice program. Hull didn't have a lunch after it this year, so we came right home. Casey and I played Guitar Hero for awhile then Ryan and I played and right now Casey and Ryan are playing a different playstation game.
Tomorrow Alex and Nicole will be at Nicole's parents house for Christmas. So I think Duane and I will try to get some income tax work done. We want to try to get that all done before his surgery on January 8th. Although I'm really not looking forward to it, it will be nice getting it our of the way.
We started working on this website in October. I knew we'd never be able to devote a lot of time to it. I'm sure we won't get around to writing every night, just not enough time or energy for it. But I know I enjoy reading Nancy and Bruce's (Duane's brother and sister in law) so we thought we'd do one too.
We finally got most of our home remodeling projects done, so we should have more time now.
Although we still want to put linoleum in the entryway, and a few other projects.
We have been slowly working on getting the house redone on the inside. We remodeled our bathroom, totally. We made it bigger, put a separate tub and shower in, and a new sink. The boys didn't think we needed a whirlpool. I think they have used it even more than I have. There is nothing more relaxing than to sit in the whirlpool with a good book and just relax.
This past summer we finally built a deck (we had resided the house, put new windows in, and put in a patio door). For the longest time we just had a patio door there and no steps. Tyler told us many times, Grandpa and grandma you need to build a deck. After we built it he just loved to go stand out there too. He has now convinced his other grandma that they need to build one. He says Grandma I want to be in charge of the deck. She said he picked out a huge one he wanted them to build. He says they need to put their grill on there and his toys, and a table and chair set for him. He says "But I want to be in charge of the deck grandma".
We also sanded our hardwood floor down and restained and varnished it then we put laminate in the dinning room and kitchen. That was long overdue. It is so nice to scrub the floor and have it look clean. The other floor was so scarred up it never looked clean.
I'll post some pictures later of us working on these projects. It was really a family affair. I'm really fortunate to have boys that have been taught carpenter skills. By both their father and their uncle Harlow. When we start a project and the family is home for the weekend we get a lot of help.
Well, I sure had enough to say once I got started right?
WE WANT TO WISH YOU ALL A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS,AND A NEW YEAR FILLED WITH GOOD HEALTH AND MANY BLESSINGS!
